Grandparents and Grandchildren
If you are a grandparent and looking for some ways to entertain your grandchildren you may be surprised to know that they don’t have to cost a fortune. Grandparents and grandchildren can have fun in a lot of different ways. If you are a grandparent raising grandchildren then I know for sure you are planning on doing some fun things. It seems to me that everyone is just looking for a quick fix which usually cost a lot of money, not time. As grandparents the one thing that we cherish the most is the time we are able to spend with our grandchildren. So why not slow down and really enjoy every minute with some well planned out events. I am going to jog your memory of some hot summer days that didn’t cost me much if anything but they stick with me to this day. One’s that I remember the most are the hot summer days when we would slip off and go for a swim in the creek. This would scare me to death now since I worry about snakes and any other critters that crawl but that’s the amazement of being young we don’t seem to worry so much. Make memories that will last a lifetime.
- Make lunch and go on a picnic
- Spend the day at the park
- Go to the beach and build sandcastles
- Build a fort outside over the cloths line
- Paint a picture on old cardboard
- Dig some holes and play marbles
- Play jacks
- Play kickball with them
- Pack a meal and go for a hike
- Go to a drive-in movie
It seems that we are in a recession but I can’t tell if people have really realized that it is time to revert back to the old ways, the ones that did not cost a fortune because we created our own entertainment. We knew that whatever we had to play with we invented ourselves. If you are of grandparents age then I’m sure you remember making bubbles out of soapy water and fixing lemonade for a lemonade stand.
If you have a local pool you will not find a better way to spend a hot summer day than cooling off in the water. Blow up the beach balls, floats and get the towels for a fun day. When you arrive back home after a day at the pool it will be time to get out the grill for hot dogs and maybe the ice cream maker. This day will be remembered for years to come. Cherish the moment.
