myself wondering about is the number of children that are in bad situations that no one knows about. There is one thing that you should be prepared for when you go to court and that is that even though you know what you know you should keep in mind that the judge doesn’t know you or the grandchildrens’ parents so the burden of proof is on you to establish the facts of why the children need to live somewhere else for a temporary period of time.
I am going to make a short list of the reasons I have encountered that your grandchildren may need to be placed with you in order to be safe.
- Drug Abuse
- Alcohol abuse
- Death Of Your Child
Drug abuse in bleeding over from places that it started at to almost every little town in our country and anyone who doesn’t see this problem is living with blinders on. The illegal drugs that are out there today seem to totally take over a persons personality and all at once they live for nothing else but the drugs. Again this comes from my own personal experience and seeing some people very close to me ruin there lives with these drugs.
Grandparents can actually take care of their grandchild if they believe that their own children are unfit to take care of the child. This is one of the most common reasons why grandparents file for temporary custody order. Grandparents should consider filing for temporary relative custody. The reasons for this should be drug abuse, financial issues or mental health status. Basically it is called temporary because there is hope for betterment in the situation of the biological parent.
